Some mats print center lines and hash marks. Some practitioners love them; others feel watched by geometry. Choose on purpose. General gear guidance only.

Who lines help

Beginners building hand and foot habits sometimes focus better with cues—especially in app-led home yoga. If lines make you stare down instead of breathe, they are not helping.

DIY tape

Painter’s tape on a blank mat creates removable guides. Measure using mat size habits. Prefer mats you like from how to choose a yoga mat first; graphics second.

Props over paint

Blocks and straps often fix asymmetry better than ink—see props. A teacher’s eye beats a printed midline.

Sweat and cleaning

Busy prints can hide moisture. Wipe deliberately—grip for sweaty practice. Set the room up so you are not cramped—home yoga space.

Bottom line

Use alignment lines if they calm your setup; ignore them or tape your own if they distract.
